This night was one of my best memories from San Francisco: a crowd of musicians, poets, and locals who gathered one night at the subway station in the Mission. There was no money, no apparent hierarchy, just words and music for their own joy. I don't know what—if anything—it is called, and I don't think I want to. For me, it was just happy chance that I happened to go home that way that night. Life should be like this more often.
