I headed toward Times Square along with a few hundred thousand other visitors a few days before New Year's Eve. I was hypnotized by the advertisement on this marquee, looping through a surreal staged land with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga. Sometimes even the utterly predictable is somehow a surprise.
