This entire plant was shorter than my pinky finger, and the tiny flower was the only one of its kind that I saw in a day-long hike. It was right in the middle of a little-used trail and siezed my attention in exactly the same way as the world's mightiest trees had been doing all day.
I've heard it said that leaves are about 1% efficient at converting sunlight to energy. It's mind-blowing to me that such a tiny plant with narrow leaves like that can get enough mojo going to bloom already.
