I can (and do) practice my guitar at any time: in the couple of minutes that I can spare when I'm getting ready in the morning, for example. But writing is another matter entirely. It takes a whole day, with nothing else going on, for that moment of inspiration to finally find me after a couple hours of practice.

So in effect, I only write about 1-2 songs/year. I wish it were more. Perhaps I should simply give myself permission to "do nothing" more often.
